Psychiatric Evaluation

A thorough conversation to understand your story and create a clear path forward

Your first step toward mental wellness starts with understanding where you are and where you want to go.

What Is a Psychiatric Evaluation?

A psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive conversation between you and me to understand your mental health concerns, history, and goals. Think of it as a thorough check-in about how you're doing emotionally and mentally.

This isn't a test you can pass or fail. It's a collaborative discussion where I listen to your story, understand your symptoms, and work with you to create a treatment plan that makes sense for your life.

What We'll Discuss

  • Your current concerns and symptoms
  • Your medical and mental health history
  • Family history and genetics
  • Current medications and treatments
  • Your goals for treatment
  • Daily life and relationships

What You'll Receive

  • Clear diagnosis if appropriate
  • Personalized treatment recommendations
  • Explanation of your options
  • Next steps and timeline
  • Written summary for your records
  • Resources and referrals if needed

You might benefit from an evaluation if you're experiencing:

  • • Persistent sadness or depression
  • • Anxiety that interferes with daily life
  • • Trouble focusing or concentrating
  • • Sleep problems or fatigue
  • • Mood swings or irritability
  • • Changes in appetite or weight
  • • Social withdrawal or isolation
  • • Trouble at work or school

  • • “Nothing seems to help my anxiety”
  • • “I want to try medication”
  • • “My family is worried about me”
  • • “I need help getting back on track”

What to Expect

1

Before Your Visit

You'll receive paperwork to complete online, including a brief questionnaire about your symptoms and history. This helps us use our time together more effectively.

2

During the Evaluation (60-90 minutes)

We'll have a conversation about your current concerns, symptoms, personal history, and goals. This is a safe space to share openly about what you're experiencing.

I'll ask questions to better understand your situation, but you're always free to ask questions too. This is your time.

3

Creating Your Treatment Plan

Together, we'll discuss what I've learned and develop a treatment plan that fits your needs and preferences. This might include therapy, medication, lifestyle changes, or a combination.

4

Next Steps

We'll schedule follow-up appointments and discuss any immediate steps. You'll leave with clear understanding of your diagnosis (if applicable) and next steps.
